Anderson overcame Nishikori, almost repeating Federer`s record

Kevin Anderson scored a second victory at the ATP Final Tournament in London. In his second leg of the Leighton Heat Group, the South African debuted 6:0, 6:1 under the No. 7 Japanese Kei Nishikori, who on the first day of the tournament defeated Roger Federer in two sets but today was helpless against the 203-cm Anderson. The 32-year-old South African won the match for 1 hour and 5 minutes, recording a fourth victory against Nishikori in a match 9 between the two. In his first match in the group Anderson had defeated the Austrian Dominic Thiem, again in two sets. Today Anderson took the first 11 games from tennis tips in the game. At 5:0 in the first part, the 28-year-old Japanese replied to 3 sets but eventually failed to escape the gossamer. In the second set, things continued to grow badly for Nishikori, who won his only game in his 5-1 match for Anderson. With a game of 15 then the fina list of this year`s Wimbledon put an end to the match in which he did not give any break point to his rival. Anderson`s next rival, Roger Federer, is the only tennis player in the history of the prestigious race to win a 6:0 6:0 match. The Swiss accomplished this in 2005 against Argentine Gaston Gaudio.

To qualify for the semifinals, Anderson needs Dominic Thiem`s victory against Federer this evening or a thirty-year success of the 37-year-old Swiss against the Austrian. Anderson has the chance to become the first tennis player in Africa to qualify for the ATP Final Finals semi-finals.
