Madison Brengle qualified for the quarterfinals of the tournament in Stuttgart with a prize of 731,000 dollars. The 25 years old American eliminated the placed under number 3 Petra Kvitova with 6:3, 7:6 (2) for 95 minutes and achieved the first win of her career over a competitor of the top 10 world rankings.
Brengle served for the match at 5:4 in the second set and led with 40:0, but allowed a breakthrough. In the ensuing tiebreak she dominated and still has been greeted with the success.
Kvitova, the champion of "Wimbledon" last season, is back on the court this weekend for the meetings of the Czech Republic by "Fed Cup" after 2-month absence due to fatigue and health problems.
The lack of match practice of Czech woman said his word in the game; she conceded 39 unforced errors against only 13 of Brengle. So the American reached for the first time the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament of that rank, and her next opponent will be Caroline Garcia from France.
