Former Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger is set to join the Audi team.
Audi intends to compete in F1 as a factory team with Sauber starting in 2026.
Berger until recently was the leader and promoter of the DTM championship. However, due to financial problems, Berger had to close the IRT management company and sell the rights to the promotion. Starting from the new year, ADAC will be in charge of DTM activities.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, citing sources in the Volkswagen concern, Audi is considering the option of inviting Berger to the post of adviser or consultant. Approximately the same position in the Mercedes team for quite a long time in the past was occupied by Niki Lauda.
